Ah... Rocketter, with Oden and Thor at ones side in battle the gods can stop any bullet. *winks* Though a Tommy gun is hard to stop. I would like to see an even more epic battle;
Watain vs The Wu tang clan. *Laughs her ass off* Watain would win by thousands of miles!

Nvrbtdt, why thank you! I have much more in store in the next few weeks. I shall keep all posted. Perhaps I shall use white letter's so that you all will be able to read a bit easier?

Abyssal Gems... where were the goddess model types with the chainmail boobs and the flowing capes? I was hoping for some Xena clones in high boots and tiny leather skirts...Nothing says Hottie like a girl with a horned helmet and jewel encrusted dagger...

Ok,how bout this?

Kali: The Dark Mother
Fearful goddess with a heart of a mother
By Subhamoy Das, About.com

Who is Kali?
Kali is the fearful and ferocious form of the mother goddess. She assumed the form of a powerful goddess and became popular with the composition of the Devi Mahatmya, a text of the 5th - 6th century AD. Here she is depicted as having born from the brow of Goddess Durga during one of her battles with the evil forces. As the legend goes, in the battle, Kali was so much involved in the killing spree that she got carried away and began destroying everything in sight. To stop her, Lord Shiva threw himself under her feet. Shocked at this sight, Kali stuck out her tongue in astonishment, and put an end to her homicidal rampage. Hence the common image of Kali shows her in her mêlée mood, standing with one foot on Shiva's chest, with her enormous tongue stuck out.

The Fearful Symmetry
Kali is represented with perhaps the fiercest features amongst all the world's deities. She has four arms, with a sword in one hand and the head of a demon in another. The other two hands bless her worshippers, and say, "fear not"! She has two dead heads for her earrings, a string of skulls as necklace, and a girdle made of human hands as her clothing. Her tongue protrudes from her mouth, her eyes are red, and her face and breasts are sullied with blood. She stands with one foot on the thigh, and another on the chest of her husband, Shiva.

Awesome Symbols!
Kali's fierce form is strewed with awesome symbols. Her black complexion symbolizes her all-embracing and transcendental nature. Says the Mahanirvana Tantra: "Just as all colors disappear in black, so all names and forms disappear in her". Her nudity is primeval, fundamental, and transparent like Nature — the earth, sea, and sky. Kali is free from the illusory covering, for she is beyond the all maya or "false consciousness." Kali's garland of fifty human heads that stands for the fifty letters in the Sanskrit alphabet, symbolizes infinite knowledge.
Her girdle of severed human hands signifies work and liberation from the cycle of karma. Her white teeth show her inner purity, and her red lolling tongue indicates her omnivorous nature — "her indiscriminate enjoyment of all the world's 'flavors'." Her sword is the destroyer of false consciousness and the eight bonds that bind us.

Her three eyes represent past, present, and future, — the three modes of time — an attribute that lies in the very name Kali ('Kala' in Sanskrit means time). The eminent translator of Tantrik texts, Sir John Woodroffe in Garland of Letters, writes, "Kali is so called because She devours Kala (Time) and then resumes Her own dark formlessness."

Kali's proximity to cremation grounds where the five elements or "Pancha Mahabhuta" come together, and all worldly attachments are absolved, again point to the cycle of birth and death. The reclined Shiva lying prostrate under the feet of Kali suggests that without the power of Kali (Shakti), Shiva is inert.

Forms, Temples and Devotees
Kali's guises and names are diverse. Shyama, Adya Ma, Tara Ma and Dakshina Kalika, Chamundi are popular forms. Then there is Bhadra Kali, who is gentle, Shyamashana Kali, who lives only in the cremation ground, and so on. The most notable Kali temples are in Eastern India — Dakshineshwar and Kalighat in Kolkata (Calcutta) and Kamakhya in Assam, a seat of tantrik practices. Ramakrishna Paramhamsa, Swami Vivekananda, Vamakhyapa, and Ramprasad are some of the legendary devotees of Kali. One thing was common to these saints — all of them loved the goddess as intimately as they loved their own mother.
"My child, you need not know much in order to please Me.
Only Love Me dearly.
Speak to me, as you would talk to your mother,
if she had taken you in her arms."

Interesting and eclectic religion our Lizzie subscribes to..

Kali death goddess of the Indian sub-continent.. patron of Thuggees and Indiana Jones nemesis..

Norse Gods and Marvel Comics characters...

A bit of Celtic/Pagan/Pre-Christian animist animal sacrifice tossed in- all mixed in with reverence to the Anti-Christ, ol' Beelzebub himself...

and a joy of high decibel music guaranteed to make her deaf before she reaches my age..

truly a fascinating belief..

wonder if it will last the requisite 2000 years to be considered ' mainstream ' or, at least on a par with Islam.

ROTFLMFAO!!!!or is that blasphemous and going to get me in trouble with some Scientology Aliens who will ' correct my thinking'?

I mean no disrespect to her beliefs, mind... just marvel Eeker ing at the diversity of worship one finds in the world today...or maybe my mind is clouded from dealing with the Mormons at my door this morning flogging their book of stuff Jesus forgot to put in the Bible...
Eeker Mad

Nvrbtdt, Subhamoy Das has it about dead on! Yes, that is where my lovely nickname of lovely uh…. Butterflies come from. While I may not have served in the military I have fought man battles of my own and gone on a few of my own proverbial murderous rampages. I am also not nice in war much like she is. She is also a mother goddess as you read, and take care of my own like a mother. I am also very much an alpha-female like she is. I choose my pen name and nickname with much thought after learning of her power. She is the perfect pinnacle of strength a woman like me needs to draw from.

Rocketeer, what was that you said? I cunt hear you cherry well as I have an ear in f&ucktion. *chuckles* I am not sure that someone like me has ever been on this site, and yeah not a single person that has ever met me has known exactly what to think of me when they first met me. I can count on one hand the number of people that really know me well. My family hardly counts as well… they have been around the longest naturally. I believe I have made it clear before, but I shall make sure that I say it once more; I am here to support you guys, befriend you guys, and get to know you. I am always open to questions, but I am too mature to debate along the lines of “my life style is better than your life style is”.

On the note of being tired and in need of some extra energy it seems my soldier is not well, and I exhausted myself at work today. It seems that over the weekend some joker attempted to break into my work at the antique shop. They managed to break the door window that now looks like spider webs a month early! In my anger for the simple act of criminal stupidity, but that I think it is rather rude to try to rob such a local shop, and the fact that my work has had a hard time since the fire that nearly took our whole building. I can only imagine that my boss was relieved of the alarm that made the dirty bastard crooks run like scared imbeciles. I do not in any way conduln criminal behavior, but for the sake of the gods and goddess if you are going to rob someone at least rob a big corporation. They have insurance to handle that sort of thing.

On a happy note; I got to talk to my good friend SPC Chuck in OEF, and he is holding up well. I hope that the Good Padre isn’t called to give him his last rights.

Lizzie:

I'm sure you will weather the storm and handle any of the little issues that life throws at you with purposeful resolve.

As to your unique 'perspective' on other realms and the afterlife, I fully accept that it works for you and would not dare to question or belittle your beliefs..

long ago realized that people need something to believe in beyond the mundane daily grind of existence and whatever shape or form that may take matters not as long as it brings comfort and hope to them and does not bring dishonour or despair on others who may think differently..

I"m glad you support the military when so many dismiss their efforts or denigrate their sacrifice, Service to one's country has been an integral part of my family's life and an obligation we don't take lightly.. I draw comfort from and enjoy the comraderie of any who step up to serve in support of community and country..

As for your presence here among a bunch of crusty young and old squaddies, squids and flyboys - well, let's just say that very few [ drunk or sober ] would ever turn down the attention and 'adoration' of young females.

I'm off to throw out the cat and tuck in the dog 'cause its past my bed time and tomorrow where I am [0002 hours.. ] and my warm milk is starting to curdle..

Life is a journey where you never know what is coming around the corner. If your beliefs give you solace and comfort,I suppose it's a positive.
As long as you don't drop a bomb on those who choose not to believe in your spiritual path.

The only way I would ever harm someone for not believing in my religion is if they hurt me first, and at that time I hurt them 10 times more than they did I. Other than that I agree whole heartedly; Everyone has a right to believe what they wish. Even if someone believed in a pink squirrel as their god they are fine by me so long as they do not try to interfere with my beliefs.
