Billy, the hard part would be setting up in exactly the right place to accomplish the task of getting on the deer's back. Dealing with his antlers once you were on it would be tough, but I think it could be done. I'm a pretty stout fellow, and I've often wondered if it would be possible to kill a deer with a knife. Then I heard about the guy in Hohenwald, TN. I guess it is possible, but it would take one hell of a bit of luck to get setup just right.

You are very right on that, and I wouldn't want to be the one to try. My luck I would leave the tree early and end up with a antler stuck in my ***

LMFAO! Sounds like your luck and my luck are pretty much the same kind of luck. And can you say 'antler proctology'? LOL

Sully, I was born in Farmington but rasied in CA. My Dad taught me to hunt like your Dad the old fashioned way. Here in Mo everyone hunts from stands. I just cant get in to that kind of hunting. I like to get out and walk the woods. Everyone here likes the high powered rifles for those 300-400 yard shots. I use 30-30 marlin for those 30-40 yard shots. The safety is in the hammer so when you throw up to your shoulders all you do is use your thumb to cock it back into the firing postion. It is alot better than those button safeties. I have a lever action 300 savage that my Dad left to me when he died. It is just to heavy and to long to be hauling around the woods. If I every get to go to CO to Elk hunt I will use it. Im a Life member of the Noth American Hunting Club. They have a web site www.huntingclub.com all you hunters may want to check it out.

As fate would have it, I never even got a shot at a deer this season. I went a couple of times, but I don't really have access to a lot of land. I found out later in the season that there's a place I could have hunted and will hunt next season. I still have some venison left from last year, though, so it's not like I'm out or anything. I still wish I had gotten a couple. I did get to go hunting, though, and that's the best part of it.
