two things that seem completely unrelated but involve the internet/media got me thinking today...

the ' brainy' girlie from High School Musical - the manufactured phenom from Disney has been' outed' by photos of her nude on the world wide weeb.. the Mouse Factory is surprisingly low key on this stating that it was an ' unfortunate learning experience ' for the young actress.. and she, of course, regets that personal photos [ which were takwewn why? in the first plce ] were ' inadvertently ' released by persons unknown on the public causing untold damage to delicate psyches of legions of pre-teen fans.. etc. etc..

but.. hey, she's a 22 year old actress looking to breakout of the family-themed playing younger than real roles and move her career up a notch.. what better way than to appeal to a ' wider audience [ i.e. horny teen guys and oogling older men ] if you want to up your profile and score some meaty roles? [ bets she [pops up on the cover of Stuff and HMN and Maxim in the near future? Playboy anyone? ]

or am I reading something too much into this incident [ falling closly on the revelation that internet singing senstation/discovery was secretly signed by a major record label before she was ' discovered' and became a weeb star? ]

follow this with the sudden re-emergence [ as predicted] of Osama in time for the 9/11 anniversary [ we all kind of knew that the Al Qaeda/Taliban types wouldn't miss the opportunity ] with his own new ' release' - the intifada video.. this time saying American big business and the military were the villain and he really really likes ordinary Americans and encourages them to see the light by ' converting' to Islam for the truth to be revealed.. [ still has a long way to go to beat out Benny Hinn for slick conversion tele-evelangelism ] but, hey, he's slimmed down and Mr. Clairoled his beard to appeal to the youth market.. can a Osama Diet be far behind? [ Live off the land and eat locally organic.. lose weight fast..! travel lite and night.. get that adrenalin pumping by having the US shoot smart bombs at your cave !! ]..

sad when true believers in the humble authentic Lord of Hosts got to ' pimp' up by cosmetic enhancement to be more popular - no confidence that their path is proof enough of purity and the rightness of things...

makes me want to head out to Starbucks for a frou frou high priced ' fair trade' fruity coffee to assuage my guilt and discuss politics with earnest strangers after plunking down $ 10.00 for a cup of flavoured hot water..

And here I thought you were gonna talk about "High School Osama". Well, at least the "Middle School Osama" who grew up hanging out in the posh, "liberal" club scene, jet setting to Beirut and Casablanca sporting tight blue jeans and an afro.
