Not really. I think the message I sent rppearso was received. (he's probably over at the muslim site joining in on all the Bush bashing....!)

I still check in from time to time. You dont have to be a terrorist to dislike the bush administration and what they are doing to our economy. Alot of good points have been made here but none to justify forcing someone to stay in if they realize they made a mistake in joining the military. Still no navy seals to pick me up yet and force me to OCS or AIT. Cavscout made a good point about the cost of deployment and why they are so long and that makes sense.

I still run on those green fields chasing a butterfly with laughter ^_^ with my siblings.. My mom back there sitting under a tree looking at us with hope.. with a smile on her face. Nappy: rppearso had an "attitude" which is more highly tolerated than is customary on military sites. If you ignore his posts, you will be okay. Or you could learn how to rationalize your mistakes in life.

I wouldn't say its dead in here at all. Quite lively in fact. HarryP, thegunny, Rocketeer, and more have quite the witty banter to keep the chuckles coming. Give it a while, let 'em get up to operating temperature.

Attitude, I would view myself as a moderate facing the democrat side radical version of michael savage. I dont let people rationalize abuse and hazing and if someone interperts that as "attitude" I cant control your interpertations.
"Or you could learn how to rationalize your mistakes in life" This is a cover to shift focus off of the real issue. Without my "attitude" this might not be as fun a site. I bring up view points that few on this site consider, especially you cavscout, being a recruiter my views might give you insight into why someone might back out or not join to begin with instead of saying things like "they should join girls scouts, etc" |

rrpearso, most people back out of the military because they are weak little children. The reasons are a dime a dozen, but Americans grow weak and soft by the minute. You are one of those. Higher education is rapidly breeding political idiocy. The liberal left as no more clue about global policy than a duck. Yet, we are to take your rationalizations and idyllic belief system as some form of substantial truth? You have no international experience in the realm of geo-politics, hence, our opinions are based in experience and fact and carry more weight and truth in the debate arena. Your views shed light on how gutless and shiftless the society is becoming at an exponential rate. Another prime example, is the girlfriend of a poster that is not shipping out on Monday, because her Mommy yells at her, blah blah blah. The factual truth is she is dependent on what others think and feel, and can't grow up and do things for herself. Come out and be a recruiter for a day, rrpearso, I work in Liberal San Diego. After you listen to the drivel that spills from high schools and colleges, you'll quickly realize the utopian myopia you call the world is not real. I can see it in someone's face if they are military quality and posess the nature to function in the real world. Surprise, surprise, but I am a college grad, had a career before the service, and can work at 90 times more places than you could ever apply. But thats because I posess skill sets, knowledge, experience, drive, determination, and a realistic outlook on how the world works. I made it through one of the "most prestigious schools" for my field, too. So, I have a seriously broad view of things from an educated standpoint and a military standpoint. They rarely contradict, because I have the innate BS filter, and can see it for whats really going on.

Cavscout..
in the interests of responding to Nappy's complaint that this place is boring and too quiet, I'll wade in on your minor missive above just to stir the pot a bit.. You come across as about 2 kliks right of centre - no problems from me on that - but, from your posts, it seems that your clear-eyed vision of America and its ability to make its place in the world is getting a bit jaundiced!!.. In decrying the ' state' of potential recruits Maybe what recruiters/ government should do for the physically/mentally flaccids of the realm is, before trying to sell them on a military path/career.. just pay their way to spend a month in the third world. Haiti, Somalia, the Sudan.. it doesn't matter.. These yappie-yippies will, almost immediately, I guarantee, realize just how lucky they were to win the fate-lottery as to when and where they were born when they see the abject poverty and paucity of opportunity a good portion of the world lives in... Instead of crying over how little capacity their mini i-pod has, they'll see how some people cry over a simple lack of water.. Once they realize how privileged they are, then they'll start to get angry that people elsewhere can be so oppressed, repressed and suppressed by a small cadre of ' rulers/despots 'and how, often, a simple change can effect a major life-enhancing opportunity for millions...it is sad that only a minority of young people ever come to realize the opportunity and privilege thay have been given by happenstance of birth. America and the West have, for far too long, stood back and watched the wholesale slaughter and loss of of people for no other reason than their lives snuffed out, lined the pockets/Swiss bank account of a corrupt opportuniist.. In this era of interconnectedness and global impact, no nation can afford to stand aloof and watch one part of the globe fall into dissarray through disaster/conflict or mercurial whim of some madman.. While we can debate whether America's " values " should be imposed on other " cultures " we can't afford to stand by and watch thousands die over " policy differences among internal ideologies ".. etc .etc..when supplying a stable environment, a water pump and a pair of shoes can change lives overnight. Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti, Somalia, the Sudan, are just the latest symptoms of ' decay '.. saying that those places don't matter to America or the west [ i.e. developed nations ] is a poor and toothless argument.. The sacrifice of a few lives to ensure a nation doesn't slip into anarchy is worth the effort - even if there is no ' tangible reward ' for the West.. The left-lib wring their hands at the loss of soldiers and wail loudly at the ' collateral damage' of women. children and old folks.. just watch them wail when thousands more are killed and a country gutted if no intervention was undertaken [ no one remember Rwanda anymore? what's the grumpyness over Darfur about, then ? ].. Yes there are ' costs' involved in this, and there will be those on all sides who will exploit the situation for their own benefit, but, the overall objective of just giving a people the simple opportunity of food, water, stability and hope, justifies the effort and the costs... I'm of the opinion that when the downtrodden are fed and watered , given a chance at health and the basics of education, they will stop their sectarian fighting and let go of their rigid ideologies and embrace hope.. They all want what we've got.. freedom to grow and see their kids prosper...when they're busy working and see the results, they got no time for fighting amongst themselves... the flabby, whiney softy kids out to see what the real world has to offer and they'll shape up fast and fight to get things fixed.. and the ones that won't.. let them trade places with some ethiopian pauper and let that kid enjoy even a day with clean hot water, an i-pod of tunes and reruns of Friends/Sienfeld.. Rocket...
To set my mind at ease a little, how long does it take you to come up with a speech like that? No offense intended, it's just that your posts always seem to be well thought out and usually don't drone on into off topic nonsense. Hell, it takes me 5 minutes to think about it, and another 30 just to type it up and run spell check!..lol |
