Thought you'd find this interesting. Talk about animal intelligence and bonding with humans!

The K9 above is Brutus, a military K9 at McChord.
He's huge - part Boxer and part British Bull Mastiff and tops the scales at 200 lbs. His handler took the picture.
Brutus is running toward me because he knows I have some Milk Bone treats, so he's slobbering away! I had to duck around a tree just before he got to me in case he couldn't stop, but he did.
Brutus won the Congressional Medal of Honor last year from his tour in Iraq.
His handler and four other soldiers were taken hostage by insurgents. Brutus and his handler communicate by sign language and he gave Brutus the signal that meant 'go away but come back and find me'.
The Iraqis paid no attention to Brutus. He came back later and quietly tore the throat out of one guard at one door and another guard at another door.
He then jumpe d against one of the doors repeatedly (the guys were being held in an old warehouse) until it opened.
He went in and untied his handler and they all escaped.
He's the first K9 to receive this honor.
If he knows you're ok, he's a big old lug and wants to sit in your lap.
He also enjoys the company of cats.

Count it the greatest sin to prefer life to honor, and for the sake of living to lose what makes it worth living.

My kind of dog--

But two days later after Dennis had moved, Nubbs came along and gave Dennis the surprise of a lifetime. The dog had walked 70 miles in the desert in 18 degree temperatures while he was still recovering from his wound to find Dennis.

But then someone reported that Dennis had a dog, and Dennis was told that he had four days to get rid of the dog or Nubbs would be shot.

Dennis would not abandon Nubbs after all that they had been through and he wanted to bring the dog to safety. He wrote to his mom, “Nubbs was going to America, this dog had been through a lifetime of fighting war, abuse, and had tracked our team over 70 miles of harsh desert (and) was going to live the good life.”

P A T O L O C O, your dog is incredible beautiful Cool

I do not know all the kinds of dogs, but I think it is possible to determine the condition of the dog looking precisely the state of its tail. If its tail moves far to the right and the left is that it is interested and happy, but if its tail is solid fixed between those feet is that it is not happy and may be a danger.

What I mean by this that there is a relationship between the condition of the dog and its tail behavior that's all.

That's not my dog, I just liked the story. Here's my dogs.

A Canaan and a German Short-haired Pointer (yes, German dog and a Jewish dog...OK Israeli dog....I just assume she's Jewish). Both rescues. I got a Chihuahua mix too (another rescue). And of course the Chihuahua speaks Spanish! PS-- Yeah, I'm a dog person.
