Well, received his first letter from Boot Camp, he was about two weeks into the training when he wrote. And he actually sounds pretty damn good...and motivated. The youth of this country can sometimes disappoint, but working in a training command (as I do) I see young men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving their country. Some of their stories and their motivation amaze me and I think that the "younger generation" is not lost. Just never expected to hear that kind of motivation from my own son. He sounds much better than I did my second week in Boot Camp. I don't think I wrote anyone and just wanted to make it through the day without breaking down. And I wanted to go home Frowner He, on the other hand sounds ready to kick ass already (I think I reached that point in Third Phase-- maybe 8 weeks into the training Big Grin ). Well, cheers to him. I write him often and if all goes well I'm headed to San Diego around the 16th of April!

Yes, something similar. Then we had this HOT French reporter show up.....we all made excuses about the sign and every team was trying to get her attached to them. She was eventually assigned to my team for 48 hours....sigh...

I just read some posts on another board by a Marine that won the BS/V in Nam.

He was able to remember his stories because he carried a Diary. If I had a chance, I would suggest that all new GIs carry a Diary and keep as up to date as possible.

Well, he shot Sharpshooter. Next week is The Crucible. He's still motivated, but physically beat to crap.....he's hanging in there though.
