I was wondering if anyone knows about getting out of the national gaurd OCS program with a defective enlistment agreement. I already informed the major of OCS that I no longer wish to be in OCS or the national guard at all and she said to submit a letter of disenrolement and I did and never heard anything back so I have not been going to guard, I am assuming I am out now, however I do not want to get paperwork a year later stating that I am getting an "OTH". I failed bodyfat as well, big time. I do not agree with the military and how it views hazing, I thought basic was a nightmare, not because of PT or rifles but because of hazing, and the fact that the military does not consider the drill sergants behavior to be hazing is the biggest concern. OCS is a second hazing session and I refuse to put myself into a situation like that again.

So if anyone knows what paperwork to fill out etc to get my defective enlistment and be on my way would be most helpfull.

I'm almost hesitant to comment/reply to your query since I'm not familiar with US National Guard policy or your particular circumstance but I can say that I think you'll find most of us here a little unsympathetic to your situation in general, though I, for one, can appreciate your personal concerns... Shame that someone didn't fill you in better when you first decided to look into the NG as it looks like you have an 'attitude' issue to the military milieu..and couldn't/can't get your head around the unique features of the climate..nothing against you, some folks just aren't suited..

I'm surprised that the higher ups haven't assisted you more to your satisfaction because I know from experience that the military generally, and the NG won't be any different, are extremely fair minded these days in making all accomodations to personnel in their decisionmaking and support..

Sounds like you are really depressed and disillusioned, you might want to follow that up with medical - either civvie/military and find that you can be excused/released for ' clinical depression ' or other deferment

One thing you must not do is wait for some paperwork, follow up.. things get lost/shuffled due to other priorities and anyone who doesn't follow his own per file is asking for a shock later on when rules and regs are interpreted by some paper shuffler with a rubber stamp at a remote office.. Not to demean their efforts [ was one - sadly - at one time ] but they don't have all the facts on file [ especially if you didn't track your own issue ] and so can only follow the rules and the paper trail to a decision that may not be in your favour/best interests...

I'll assume you spoke with counsellors/chaplains and other assisting personel before you started to balk at the ' hazing ' - as you call it [ others may have seen it as ' team building/bonding '] Speaking out of hand only riles the others and alters their attitude toward you which further complicates and alienates leading to a negative downturn..

I think also you need to go and speak to someone about all this and work through the anger/frustration on a number of levels...

My next step is to contact the JAG of either the main army base or if there is a guard branch. I suffered from depression during college and never got medication becasue I wanted to go in the military, and when I got to the military it only made it worse so had I gotten the treatment in college the military would have saw that and I would not have got in. I guess im paranoid to go to the base again because the basic training in some senses is everywhere in the military, I guess thats why they have the training. However if im in civilian clothes I should be fine, I dont have to be worried about not using military coutesy and getting chewed out for it.

Im not lazy, I just have a major problem with unnessicary harrasment. I have finally got my paper work finished through the NG and am just waiting for my discharge letter in the mail, I also got out of IRR time becasue i did not have AIT or OCS. I guess if a chemical engineer with 2 yrs left to get my PE and a pilots licence is lazy then that would be me. The only thing I WAS affraid of was continued abuse with little to no recourse, I have no problem if you want to break into my house to haze or abuse me then you will get it right back with a 12 gauge, but in the army barracks you cant shoot your sgt or you go to jail and if you keep taking it day in and day out you will likely develop a mental disorder and have to smoke some weed to calm down, because not being able to defend yourself is not natural.

rrpearso, you NEED to under stand that the drill sgt's arent beating ur ass to harrass you, they have less than 5 monthes to turn a group of men into professionally trained U.S Army Soldiers. this goes for all branches as well........

This tread is really old but my opinion still stands. I wasent the rank and file guy, I was "that guy" even if I wasent "that guy" our drill sgts did some sadistic stuff way beyond drop and give me 20. They did stuff that I would be legally within my right to shoot them dead in the civilian world.
