You are a crew chief on one of the most advanced fighter jets in the entire world and you want to leave all that to play in the sand? Do you know how many folks would give thier left nut just to be doing what you are doing? My advice is to stay the course, learn everything you can (become the expert) and once the JSF starts squadroning up, volunteer for that. Leaving the F-22 for anything less just doesn't make sense. (at least to me) By the by, I was a crew chief on the following aircraft: AV8 series, F-4 series, A-4, A-6 during my Marine career. Wouldn't have traded those experiences for anything. If you are still intent on leaving the F-22, you need to start with opening up the discussion within your squadron. You should have a career retention officer? Start there. LOL, TheGunny got it right. But if times are slow in your Squadron, and you're bored, maybe request TCN duty.
I'd stay the course... Good luck to you, whatever your decision, and thanks for your service! -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- thinking of a jazzy sig-line |

I think you got me wrong here....I love my job and in no way want to leave the f-22. What i am looking for is an in loo of deployment i guess. just to do my small part over there then come back to my job....is there anything like this?

calbert,
Glad to hear you want to stay with the 22. Damn fine weapons platform. Again, the only way I know of to gain a temporary assignment is to discuss this within your Squadron or Wing. SEMPER FI The Gunny PROUD TO BE AN INFIDEL America is not at war. The Marines are at war, America is at the mall. |

Quadvet is right about TCN. Basically you go over and guard nationals of the country for a deployment cycle and then you come back to your job. But If i worked on the 22 I'd stay.
