Never a dull moment at the ol' Rocketeer homestead.. Daughter is counting down the days 'til the fiance boards transport for home.. 40 days and counting 'til he heads back from the 'Stan.

meanwhile No. 1 son is shaking his head over last minute ' request'.. Seems there's an ' opening' in the Congo, and he's at the top of the short list..plane leaves next Monday!...

and, the Good Padre is hinting at her next posting after June, which looks like Rocketeer will have some additional ' me and the dog' time to contemplate, though the Honey-Do list is growing with each visit home the missus makes.[ apparently she didn't much care for the colour of the paint job on the stairs so I'm doing some -ahem - remedial work -..seems I made an executive decision on the paint scheme without showing her the sample chip first..major faux pas and a black mark in my dossier resulted ]...

I'm going to open my can of thinking beer and consider my options...

Just returned from a bit of a booze up - sorry- official ceremonies -... daughter's boss was promoted/installed as Brigade Commander and there was a bit of a parade and subsequent imbibery in the occifer's mess...

After the promotion and speechifying a grand spread was laid out and the bar stewards went into overdrive...amazing how much colonels and generals can partake and still maintain proper posture..

first order of business for daughter is arranging for her boss to head off to Bulgaria..

go figure...

still waiting for ' official notice' on the Good Padre's new posting which is supposed to take effect end of June...Will believe it when I see her travel/posting doc's...been around long enough to kn ow that until those are in hand the powers that be can pull the old' bait and switch ' and send you anywhere...

right now I need an alka seltzer and some hair of the dog as the new CO shared some of his ' private label ' with a few of us in a quiet corner and I'm feeling the lining of my stomach peeling..could have been home in record time if I put some of it in the gas tank instead of me...put OPEC out of business..
