Rocketeer,

Sure is appealing! The wife is always going on about our lack of good vacations, the ones we have taken have all been to visit with her family, and she just comes back from them madder than ever!

Too bad they couldn't have sent you all a copy via dvd or something. Pretty awesome a mother and son serving. That is pretty unusual indeed!

Give my best to the family!

The Bell Is Rung!

step up to the virtual bar one and all, Rocketeer is buying.. The daughter officially dons her next pip [ butterbars for the US types] and now has the substantive rank of Captain [ though she worked her last assignment in Acting capacity ]..

just waiting on her new posting which seems to be to NDHQ [ that's National Defence Headquarters for the acronym challenged ]as a Standards Officer - its an obvious step up but takes her away from the ' leading from the front' to shoving stuff around on desks- still she's young enough to be able to get back on the thril ride part of things once this is over as its only a 2 year posting.

The Good Padre informs me that its all but official that she'll be leaving me in June of next year for her new posting as Base Chaplain at the big swamp and bug farm known as CFB Petawawa [ more than a few US boys and girls will know the spot from joint ex deployments - the only wilderness in the world where you can order a pizza by grid reference. LOL ]. 9 months of me and the dog holding Casa Rocketeer together while she handles departing and returning Afghanistan rotations in need of the pre-post-support [ she's still bucking for her own turn in the land of poppies but chain-o-command seems to have other things in mind at the moment..] while waiting for next June she has the usual short term assignments that will keep her busy and away from my TV remote.

Congrates to one and all at the rocketeer domain.
Two questions,
Does this now make you the lowest rank in the house now?
And,
with all this spare time with the good padre going away, maybe you can finish that tale about the canucks over the yanks in that famous battle that a certain rocketeer took place in and whooped our behinds

Mech!

I've been the lowest ranked in the Rocketeer household ever since I said " I Do "..

as for the Tale you refer to ..damn!.. everyone is bringing up stuff from bygone jargon days..my braincells in that area have long ago been flushed away by cheap beer and expensive single malts...

I'll have to retreat into a sweat lodge and conjure up the ghosts of those stories before I can retype them here with any coherence..don't think I even saved them in hard copy form..

oh, the wages of sin and lack of foresight.

Being the ever efficent NCO that I was I have saved you tale from the old site. Every word and chapter from the Jargon days, till it crashed.
I really need to get a life, no?

Mech:

you saved those mindless scribbles? that's pathetic..Good For You!

..maybe we can hook up by PM and I can restore my memory as my hard drive has crashed many times since those jargon days [ too much ' water' under the bridge and through the liver/kidneys LOL ]

It was like one of those serials that you picked up each week from the corner store, couldn't wait to see what happened next. PM the address you want them sent to, and I snail mail copys to you.

daughter stopped by to give me a heads up on her new job...

appointed Adjutant to Spec Ops unit.. [ she's excited but can't say anything beyond that...] so ol' Rocketeer has been downgraded from the ' need to know' list...not that anyone tells me anything around my house anyway..

at least it keeps her busy and not dwelling on boyfriend/significant other heading out to poppyland in the coming term...

That sounds like a exciting job. She's been training for this type of assignment for awhile?
