When it comes down to soldiering and fighting, depending on one another for life & limb, the gay issue isn't a thought when shit hits the fan.
All soldiers straight or gay, need to keep their sexual preferences to themselves, and concentrate on what's right for completing the mission at hand!

I, however, try to stay out of this debate... simply because I've never been in hte military, so I don't think I have much of a say-so.

Gays in the Military is a 'dead issue ' as far as the Canadian Forces are concerned..

yesterday a Sgt married a Warrant Officer in the first gay military wedding..the ' news' warranted a paragraph on page 15...

oh, the times they are a changin'...

ok....i'm not really sure about this one...but i know about the guys in my company and so forth.....and it would be a morale issue....i can see the reasoning behind the gays/les being PE'OD about having to hide their true selfs...however there are still WAY to many people in the military to accept that kind of lifetsyle...and what it would all come down to is who would you like in your fox-hole....a gay soldier or a straight soldier....no matter what kind of soldier they were..unfortunately probably 99% of the people in the military are not rdy to accept that..also in further disscusion there was refference to a gay soldier who was beat to death out side of post....it was not a sailor but a soldier from the 101st Airborne.

Our military isn't ready to accept it. Geez, we don't even like the don't ask, don't tell policy, but thats just another order and its the job to follow orders. If it was our call, and it ain't, then this issue wouldn't be as big a problem as everyone makes it outr to be. (they wouldn't be in the military in the first place)

As to the "weddin'" all kosher so to speak... they were both NCO's and not in the same chain of command or the whole thing would have been disallowed under the rules anyway or one of them would have had to resign...

As for Gays at the pointy end.. as I've said elsewhere..rather have someone who coveted my ass watching my six than someone more interested in saving his own.. besides.. if they're good enough to be citizens they're good enough to fight for the country..

and, finally, you'd think the homophobes out there would be happy to have Gays in the military..that way they could get shipped out of the country and killed off by someone else [ okay a bit black, but still...]

Rocketeer i agree with who care what ur taste is as long as can do job and not hinder any one form there job. i go to an art collage i see gay guy all day that " flaming" and know guy that " man"s man" no pun intended. so i could care less what like next to in morning when wake up as long as keep to ur self
