Hey guys and girls,
I am currently enrolled in AFJROTC, and i was wondering what uniforms you guys and girls wear. My friend asked our Master Sargent the other day why the females in our core didnt wear the shirts that didnt have to be tucked in. He also pointed out that active duty air force doesnt wear BDU hats. So if someone could give me a list of your uniforms and maybe there descriptions that would be great!! Thanks alot C/MSgt Lee Derouen |

ok so you joined the JROTC and don't know what the military wears? Honestly I don't know why you would have to ask a question just look it up in the AFI.

The AirForce wears tight Wrangler jeans, snuggley tucked in denim shirts, skinny belts, and a high crown baseball hat, farmer style. Except the hats are pink to show their multicultural inclusiveness. No saluting of course, it makes the airmen feel insecure.
Show your superiors how ahead of the curve you are and adopt these forward standards. You'll be promoted quickly, really. |

Airwinger:
surely that's only the Parade Dress Outfit.. the regular drill/work ensemble is the stylish one piece jump/flight suit in teal with all the neat zippered pockets and flaps and the velcro patches on the sleeves that show what hotels you stayed in and air shows you attended? stop by and purchase a ticket at the greyhound bus station. Get on the bus and look at the guy driving....closest thing you'll see to a Air Farce uniform.

Well not much I can say because the Marines have some awesome digital BDU's and the best dress uniforms. But hey why cut on us chairforce ppl? We wear what they tell us to wear.

Sorry, I was meaning to point the sarcasm at the young'un asking silly questions. Please note that I asked him to try it for promotion purposes.
I know you guys would never wear teal. |

Thanks Airwinger for that. I just thought that you were pointing that at me and him since I posted right before you. Don't worry I don't get offended that easily get alot of scuff everyday because being a SF (Security Forces) we always try to find the "nuke" button with someones nerves.

Yeah, yeah, it's been done. But I promise you'll not here of more stories of poor, unsuspecting souls enlisting for the one sorry reason of what a cool uniform they hoped to wear.
I've heard credible stories of recruiters, in the old days, keeping a plywood cutout of a dress blues uniform that a would be recruit could stand behind and have their picture taken. You know, like at an amusement park, they put their head on top of the wooden shoulders. Can you imagine? "What will I do in the Marines?" the recruit would ask. "Well son, there's lots of jobs in my Marine Corps, but whatever it is, you'll be able to wear this uniform. Step up and lets get a picture." Snap, whirrr, click. The recruit's eyes grow wide as the polaroid sharpens into focus. |
