Can anyone shed some light on what the daily routine is for an enlisted (NCO) Marine in the "Military Intelligence" mos, both field and garrison? As I had mentioned, I am joining back up into the Marine Corps Reserves, and one of the available units by me is a USMC Military Intelligence unit. While I always enjoyed the jokes about them while I was on active duty, I never knew exactly what they do. I realize they gather and process information, but can anyone let me know what a routine day in this field is like? I figure a desk and a pot of coffee is involved?? Depends on what type of intel unit it is and where it is.....

My reserve unit was within a couple hours of Camp Pendleton, CA. We went to Camp Pendleton for every drill and many times worked alongside active duty Marines. Same with a detachment out in VA (oddly enough, that base was Camp Pendleton, VA). Only there I worked with the reservists while I was active duty. However, I know of many units (i.e. Chicago) who are kinda on their own when it comes to training. Many of the intel MOS's are critical and are activated and deployed. That's a pretty good possibility.

I know about all the jokes and such surrounding military intell, but remember, in todays world, lives are on the line based on the output from these organizations. Visit the unit close to you and go talk to the Sgt Major and see what he can show you.
