Hi, I'm looking to enlist in the Army. I've been talking with a recruiter for about a month now and I'm just finding out that not everything he's telling me is entirely true.
He told me that I would get an automatic 2 weeks of leave immediately after BCT, before I go to AIT. Is this true? I'm not seeing anything like that online. Another thing...the MOS I want is 25S and it requires 27 weeks of AIT in Fort Gordon, GA. I want to move my wife out there with me and have the Army pay for the move. I know that the training has to be at least 20 weeks to qualify for this, but I read online that even with my AIT being long enough, it is still very rarely approved. If anyone has any solid info on this, I would greatly appreciate the help. There is so much misinformation online, it's hard to know what to believe. Thanks in advance. |

Generally one cannot move family until you have completed your training and have been assigned a permanent duty station.
Just remember not to put too much faith in what you read online. Just becuase you read something online does not make it true. You need to work with the recruiter not against him. Leave after basic training is generally a given. Leave in conjuction with travel orders is done providing you have the leave on the books. You should also consider changing your login name to something that projects who you really are and how you want others to percieve you. Just advice, nothing more. Try asking another recruiter and see if you get the same story. Act like you haven't talked to anyone yet, etc. I also agree with thegunny.

27 weeks of AIT and no leave after BCT?
25S? 27 weeks and you'll be 'Specialist Larry the Cable guy'! Better 'get'er done' (so to speak) |
