Turned 21 in boot camp. That went over well with the Drill Instructors. I was the oldest in my platoon.

I turned 21 in USAF Basic at Lackland AFB, Tex. Entered again as a Butterbar in the Army at 28. I guess I was the oldest Louie in the Army, but noone cared. It all turned out OK.

I was 17 when I enlisted and will be 18 when I go to boot camp. A lot of kids here that are in the DEP are between 17 and 19 years old.

I was 19 in 1967 and got to send the winter running around in the woods in Kentucky. It was one of the coldest winters they had.

18. An age so long ago when I knew just about everything. I wished I knew as much now as I thought I knew then.
