So, just came down on orders for Hood, but of course, heading to OIF soon after arrival. I have really only heard about gangs and violence there. My question is, as far as housing, for the family while I an gone, which is safer for them, on or off post ?? Any thoughts advice would greatly be appreciated.

Based on my experiences, living on post is always better for the family when you are deployed if you can get in.
