How are you all doing? I'm pretty new here and have been trying to find a place for quite sometime where I could get some firsthand knowledge of the Marines. Right now I am in DEP and leave in June of 2007. My contract is for FIELD 73, NAVIGATION OFFICER/ENLISTED FLIGHT CREWS. There are some pretty nice opportunities in this field but i would like to know if anyone here has any knowledge of being a loadmster in the Marines and what it is like.
Thanks |

Hope you like the taste of hyd fluid! Loadmasters for Marines are primarily on C-130's. Also there are only two Marine Active Duty bases stateside, Cherry Point North Carolina, and MCAS Miramar Ca., that have C-130 Squadrons. And you have to work your way up to be a certified loadmaster, after all of your 'A' schools. Not trying to discourage, as you'll get tons of flighttime getting there.

What makes you think you will be a loadmaster?
You could be a crew chief for a Cobra, Huey, Mv-22, or even a flight mech for a C-130. Truth is, not many Aircrew candidates get Loadmaster. And just cause your recruiter told you that you would get Loadmaster doesn't mean its true. I was just at Pensacola where they train all aircrew candidates and all other Air Wing MOS's. I was even an Aircrew candidate till I got medically disqualified because i had to have shoulder surgery. So i know a little bit about the subject. Lcpl Mcleod MOS: 6062 |
