when the recruiter asked me if i had it, and i said yes, his mannerisms kind of implicated that it was a bad thing and i havent really talked to him since then. also, i had it when i was like 9, im about to turn 18 in february

You're fine, it's not a problem. My son has the exact same situation, he goes to boot camp in Jan.
