I know first they have to go through basic training like everyone else. Then do they go on to infantry training or something else.

Here a question not related: Is special forces its own branch. Or is it part of the marine branch or something else

Well, If you keep checking around this website you can probably find the answers to your Q's but if not you may want to try Military.com or gruntsmilitary or even Marines.com. But yes, You do have to go to the school of Infantry either in California or North Carolina. About the Special Forces I'm not quite sure but I know that if you attend an Academy that you basically have to apply and try out then attend training after you graduate. The US Army is the only service that has Special Forces. The Marines pass off Force Recon as an SF organization, the Navy has SEALs, the Air Force has PJs(Para-Rescue).

Well son, that's a good question: are Special Forces its own Branch! If you were ta ask one of them thats in or has been in S.F., they'd probably say yeah we are! (who cares what the secretary of the Army thinks or sez?)

Now if you are asking a Marine that question, well, we'd problably just chuckle all the way to the bar......

I just recently got into the Marine Corps... I graduated bootcamp January of 05... Other than Basic Training, Combat Training (or Infantry Training for the obvious reasons), MOS school.... well that's about all of the training I've done...
