Hello all, I'm new here. I nearly joined the Marine Corps out of high school, but decided to head to college instead. I'm now 25, and re-considering my decision. Lately I've been seriously considering OCS. My question is, how does the experience I've gained since my schooling matter? I'm hoping to get some more info before I decide to go speak to a recruiter.

I'm currently a 911 dispatcher for a Sheriff's Office (non-sworn position). I've been a firefighter (part-time) for about two years, and before that I worked in television production. I also have strong interests in photography.

I guess my main question is, does this expereience set me at a better position than someone going to OCS straight out of college? Or am I at a disadvantage, because I have likely forgotten much of what I learned?

Got the degree right? Still within the age limits to be a Marine Corps Officer right?

Look at it this way, experience is always a plus. Younger does not always equate to better.

Go for it. The Corps can always use good dedicated Officers.
