I have made all the advances I can on earning the title of a Marine, but the recruiter doesn't want to work with me, I called for 2 weeks straight and he told me a bunch of information I needed to get him, I got it for him. Well I call back after the weekend, and talk with him, and he asked if he could come to my home and speak to me in person, well I did and he never showed.
What do I need to do as someone who wants to earn this and be a Marine, I dont want to call because of the simple fact I think I might have annoyed him to death with all my questions (My father is in the USAF and helped me come up with a long line of questioning for him, did that, talked with the recruiter about it and what was on it) Did I move to fast and "kill" the recruiter or what? Because I am really confused..... Should I find a new recruiter? (there are two "2" in that office) Go to a different recruitment office? I know for one I am not giving up....even if that means calling one of you for the papers....lol Please tell me what I can do better next time and how I can get the recruiter to call me back instead of me calling him and talking with him?? My father always said that was a good thing...maybe to much of a good thing....I dont know? That is why I am here and why I am asking. Thank you, David "Semper Fidelis is more than a fancy slogan. Just something I forgot to ask in the above text **
Why is it bad for a Male or a Marine Recruit to have a premature USMC Tattoo, and why is it a target for Drill Instructors? Is it the fact you see them as heros? Thats what my dad says every time I go and get my hair cut...I always get a high and tight, And always tells me not to have it cut like that because you become a target to drill instructors...just wondering..... I don't know really what's going on with your recruiter. You could try going to another one, but from your description of events, it's hard to give you advice on that.
As far as the tattoo and haircut, you answered your own question in the first line of your first post-- "...earning the title of Marine...". DI's and other Marines feel you need to earn the title Marine first. Getting the tattoo and the haircut makes you a "poser". |

Good one....Drill Instructors as hero's!
Son, while I certainly applaud your motivation and your desire to become one of the Few, The Proud, you really do need to keep things in perspective. You still have yet to graduate high school and thats probably why the recruiter doesn't have you on the 'gotta get a signature now' list. The haircut will get resolved within a day or so of arrival at boot, so it wouldn't be a problem. The tat is another thing altogether. That tattoo will become a Drill Instructor magnet aimed right at you. They will do their level best to ensure that you have what it takes to be able to wear that tat. You are gonna wish you had waited to get that one. Whats done is done, you'll just have to deal with the outcome. Just remember this one thing, its only 13 weeks. Keep your reason for joining right up front of your brain housing group and keep your eyes and ears open. Just try not to take things personal and you should do alright, but again, those Drill Instructors are going to ride you every chance they get, and they will have a total of 1518 hours in which to do so.
