I am considering on joining the USMC and I just had a question about it. I am a senior in high school and I am wanting to pursue a technical career after high school. I was wondering, if I got into a MOS that was in that field is there still a chance I could get sent to the frontline as infantry, even though it is in the contract that I would be doing the other job. That is one of my doubts about joining the corps.

In the military, there are no guarentees. In the USMC, you're a grunt first and whatever your MOS second.

Yes, there are ways of getting that guarantee. It has to be in your contract. The recruiters can tell you what guarantees are available. You may have to wait to enter the service to get the job you want (wait for an opening), and in other cases, you can sign up for the option of a job, but not guaranteed (there's no openings, but there MIGHT be one when you get through basic).
You have to hold up your end of the contract as well- make it through the appropriate training schools. Otherwise, yes, you could be sent to some other job, infantry, cook, etc.

Just remember one thing when considering the Marines. All MOS's exist with the end goal to support the Marines in the field or in the Global War on Terroism.

My advice son, is to go down to the recruiters office and speak to a recruiter from each branch of service and proceed from there. You may find excatly what you are looking for.
