Jere Beery and Dale Van Luven are two combat disabled Vietnam veterans who have been ordered to pay alimony directly from their VA disability compensation. In March of 2004, Beery, then living in a homeless shelter in Georgia, was ordered to pay his able bodied ex-wife $24,000 from his only source of livelihood, his VA disability compensation.
