Mary Menzel of BookHuntersBlog.com said about HONOR DUE by D.H. Brown: “This book transcends the usual hype and hollowness of other military novels because it is written simply and from the heart – the heart of a real Warrior.”

“It's been said that only the Warrior truly knows the reasons wars should NOT be fought. I think the converse is also true. Warriors also recognize there are some things that cannot be tolerated. You might say the Major and HONOR DUE are made up of parts of all that”, Mr. Brown explains in his interview with AllTheseBooks.com.

Most of today’s war stories are missing one thing: Authenticity. “There's all sorts of fiction being published and from the feedback I'm getting, there are also readers out there who want a dose of reality mixed into their fiction. I hope HONOR DUE and the future books of the series encompass that.” It is this authenticity and level of realism that is praised by his fellow Veterans and current soldiers. D.H. Brown told AllTheseBooks.com “I've had someone who hasn't read a book in 20 years tell me it made him want to take up reading again.” Mr. Brown certainly knows what he is talking (and writing) about: He is a 100% disabled Veteran with Agent Orange related Diabetes and chronic PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and has had open heart surgery.

Comparing Iraq with Vietnam he adds “The media in cahoots with the politicos lost that war. Not the fighting men. I look at the atmosphere in Washington today and I'm afraid we're going to do it again.” But don’t look for political rhetoric in HONOR DUE, because its story is not a story of Why, because as Mr. Brown put it “When the fat's in the fire the Why you're there is unimportant. The How you're going to get your ass and your buddies out of said fire is all that counts... In the midst of a fire-fight no one stops to ask how the guy next to you got there. You all bleed red when you get hit.”
D. H. Brown hopes that his novel can help today’s veterans deal with the physical and emotional scars. “Writing these books was suggested by my therapist and PsycheMeds doctor who thought it would aid in my recovery.” And it has certainly done so.
