The Mixed Martial Arts Xtreme Fighting Championships will be held at the St. Pete Times Forum on Veteran’s Day, Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 5pm. This event will be a salute to the military branches of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.
We are looking to send as many armed forces past and present with their families to the event as possible (for FREE) as a tribute and thanks to all of those who sacrifice and have sacrificed so much. It's not about selling tickets (we are giving the majority away - 22,000 seats) it's about raising the support for our armed forces and letting the guys and gals know we salute them. To request tickets, just send an email request or call the numbers on the contact page of the site (listed below). Mixed martial arts (MMA) is an evolving combat art in which competitors use integrated forms of fighting that includes jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, boxing, Taekwon-Do, wrestling and others to overcome their opponent in a sanctioned and supervised match. Competitors are allowed to use all martial techniques to end the fight within the limits of the Mainstream MMA rules. Each fighter is assigned to compete in their appropriate weight class. The different weight classes are Featherweight (under 135 lbs.), Bantamweight (over 136 lbs. to 145 lbs.), Lightweight (over 146 lbs. to 160 lbs.), Welterweight (over 161 lbs. to 175 lbs.), Middleweight (over 176 lbs. to 190 lbs.), Light Heavyweight (over 191 lbs. to 210 lbs.), and Heavyweight (over 211 lbs.). Mainstream MMA reserves the right to set different weight limits under reviewed conditions. All non-championship bouts are three rounds. All championship bouts are four rounds. In the event of a draw, an overtime round is added to championship bouts only. Rounds are five minutes in duration for all professional bouts, and three minutes in duration for all amateur bouts. The Mixed Martial Arts Xtreme Fighting Championships is sure to be an edge of your seat and exciting event to attend! Media: All interested media who would like to inquire about interviews, attend and review, photograph, and/or videotape this event should contact Nashira Babooram at 813.301.6537 at least one week prior to the event. Although an email request is preferred, fax is acceptable. The request will then be forwarded to the appropriate event contact person. Follow-up with the event contact person is strongly suggested. Once coverage of the event or interview request is approved, free parking will be made available. Tickets: Tickets for this event go on sale this Saturday, September 15 at noon at the MCDONALD’S BOX OFFICE at the St. Pete Times Forum and all Ticketmaster Outlets including Spec’s Music and FYE.
