My issue boots were two sizes too small and gave me shin-splints running from the company area to everywhere and back.

Sure they got scraped on obstacle courses and caked with staining red mud on bivouac and in the field. Gathered dust in the desert.

But I maintained them. I shined them. Never could afford those fancy airborne boots I longed for. Didn't get issued steel toes until after my first hitch.

I did buy a second pair...that was spit polished I never wore...used only for 'health and welfare' inspections of my wall locker.

Converse boots? My Chuck Taylor basketball hightops looked real cool...but had no arch support (I'm feeling the effects even now of all these forms of 'manly foot ware').

I've got no picture...the boots wore out or were stolen.

Boots for life?

One 'good' pair would do.

Jungle boots would be fine.

Better to give them to troops deploying soon.
Their one good pair might do for life too.
