I have not used either one and I have not talked with anyone who has.

However, it seems to me that it is just common sense to destory the 1 weapon than to try to high all the stuff they are throwing at you, when they can still fight another day.

What are your thoughts?

C-RAM is a overall system, LCMR is just part of it. The guns for the C-RAM system are not yet fielded at all locations. One of the main goals of C-RAM is the ability to give a warning to ground forces allowing them to take cover. Sense and warn is a main part of the C-RAM program, then the intercept of the rounds with the guns, and then the possible engagement of the source of the idf, or point of origin.

Even when the guns are part of the system they have "fire boxes" they engage targets in. These are usually located by base hospitals, housing areas and other important assets.

I am a career 19 KILO but I volunteered to go to Iraq for the Tennessee Army National Guard on the first C-RAM mission. I was part of a 65 man company that was sent to Fort Bliss ,TX MAY 2006. The part of the company I was with were all trained as 14 JULIET (C-RAM) and deployed to Iraq AUG 2006. We were broken into 7 ten man teams and along with NORTHROP GRUMMAN we set up C-RAM operations in and around Baghdad and Basrah.

I was on the team sent to the IZ (Green Zone), we were stationed at FOB Prosperity and were responsible for the operation, matinance of the Green Zone C-RAM system. It was a good mission and ended up working quite well despite the lack of the gun system. We provided air and artillary assets quick intell on the launch points and ended up racking up some good kills.
