USMC 7051 8083....

Ah Millington. My first real exposure to Safety Pudding.....

Not to get off the subject of coffee or anything.

Mmmm, Safety Pudding. Barely had time at GLAKES to eat let alone analyze me food, thus Millington being my first notice....

Uh....nitecheck is how I planned and staged my WOG revolt...

But that sea story is for another thread....LOL

Hehe, not sure how the revolt went in YOUR area H_A_L, but the one they started up in Air Dept - went pretty poorly (for the wogs at least Eeker)The shellbacks had a GOOD time though! Razzer

I of course lost my revolt. But it did make my bench partner upset.

I was a 3rd class and a Polywog and he was a 2nd class and a shellback.

Well, I got 'preferential' treatment. LOL

Once, I went up to the squadron AT space...they gave me..an I level puke....the duct tape to the chair, pink belly AND the white out...LOL.

This was done so I could go up on the roof with them to do a weekly on a Prowler...at night..with a little blue light.

I swore off any O level voluntary cross training after that. Not my cup o Coffee...

When I became a shellback (in 1984 on the USS Robison, DDG-12), the wog revolt was outstanding! The shellbacks were having a planning meeting in the Goat Locker ... there was a hasp on the outside of the door... , we put a padlock in the hasp, turned the lights out, turned the phone off at the switchboard, and secured the A/C to the space! Since we were in the middle of the PG (Persian Gulf) - it got pretty nasty in there quick!
We left them in there for almost an hour! They were pretty much of a mess when they got out!

They had to admit that it was the best wog revolt that they had ever seen!

BUT, you can bet your ass that we paid for it!

SD, don't think that the machinery spaces were sacrosanct for "greasings". We did that to a few that happened to venture onto the hangar deck. Of course, that was before the whineys took hold and made that kind of stuff "illegal" Roll Eyes

What "initiation" ?!?!?!? Roll Eyes Hell, it got to the point that we couldn't even tack on a crow!! I remember to this day there is only ONE person that ever made me cry when he tacked on my crow. It was some skinny-assed runt AEC !!! Granted there were abuses with that, people using elbows and the like. Broken arms weren't terribly uncommon, but that's because some assholes didn't know when to let up or just didn't care.

Just for the non-Sailor people, "tacking on a crow" was a tradition for when one first made jr NCO and every subsequent promotion through E-6. It consisted of a whallop to the rating badge, aka "stripes" while the initiant was wearing them. The Marines can probably relate to it more than anybody.
