Spent yesterday quietly nursing a bottle of the finest and watching "The Longest Day" among other D-Day stuff. Local fishwrap devoted a single page to the anniversary, a vintage aerial photo of the post Sword Beach landing with some quick blurbs about points in the picture.. that was it...

Evening newscasts mentioned it after the weather break with some few seconds of "Oh, Yeah.. Back in ..."..

Hell of a thing when this gets shuffled behind the latest money screw up in Europe or the Soccer Championships or the latest bland vacant promises from some politician...

Is this how its going to be now? WWII fading away until some significant anniversary year rolls around and they haul out the 'vintage' vehicles and marching bands?

If WWII can be ignored hate to see how they'll treat upcoming Korea, Viet Nam and Iraq memorials...

Will concede that WWI 100th in 2014 is, at least, getting a nod or two from official circles.. but, still, I figure that's only because its 'old' enough now to be glossed over, revised and, with no one left who was there to refute the reinterpretation of things, the fiction can be passed off as truth..

sorry, think its still the booze talking..

Politicians, like diapers, should be changed often, and usually for the same reasons.

If it weren't for the United States Military,
There'd be NO United States of America!

Only two defining forces have ever offered to
die for you:
1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

“Fathom the hypocrisy of a Government
that requires every citizen to prove
they are insured……but not everyone
must prove they are a citizen.”
