Sorry to hear the Good Padre's business is back up again.

Glad to hear your daughter has one of those grins that likely won't disappear for a few weeks!

Still grinning like all them gals in those viagra commercials I'll bet!

We mute commercials rather than listen to all that blather, and most times, I'll ad-lib especially during those viagra ones and have the wife laffing her ass off all night!

Getting to be a bad habit round the Rocketeer house.. Good Padre came home for some weekend down time and the beeper went off early this morning.. Can't say anything as yet, will post when allowed, but it's not going to be good news anyway... so, up and off she goes again...

I'm trusting that we can get through the week as she's got her annual leave starting and we're heading away... far away.. from the cold and snow...

til then, she's got more padre stuff dumped on her plate..

shame...

Yeah, I heard about it on the news. I also heard a startling story about Obama wanting to talk to moderate Taliban.

Condolences to the family and the nation on this latest loss over there.

Good Padre can't catch a break.. Made the mistake of logging on from Egypt on last day of 'vacation' and got messages about the latest Afghan losses. Took it badly, as two of the KIA were ' babies' - their released photos showed them without name tags and badged berets -they were so ' new ' .

This was followed up with the e-mail traffic about the Fox News late night nonsense and ' response' which put her in a funk for the trip home. Got in late Thurs/early Fri and she had no time to shake off jet lag before heading back to base.

Had been scheduled to preach on Sunday anyway, but feelings in the pews was anything but uplifting. She's conducting the first funeral tomorrow and another on Thursday [ fortunately other padres will do the other two on Tues/Wed as they are in the lads' hometowns ] but also has to face outfall in other areas. Two women had miscarriages and she's the 'expert' in this area of bereavement.

Typical military.. hit the ground running. At least she had a break for two weeks. Her deployment is up in June and we're hoping her new posting will give her some slack [ LOL - did I really type that? Army-slack? I've been out too long ].

Will post 'insights' on Egypt on the Cairo Thread tomorrow, still unpacking and shaking the Sahara from the socks and T-shirts...

I am old fashioned enough to find the death of females in combat harder to take. They are all as tragic. May God be with her family during the difficult days ahead.

Didn't think the good fortune would last...Good Padre's back at work...I think the problem and the level of pain is that soldiers are dying in dribs and drabs, not like in WWII when a bunch were lost each day on campaign. Back then, they were just names and numbers, with this loss by ones and twos over time, it makes it all up close and personal.

Tough times...

Lost two more lads on Sat. Padre's been busy working today, only one name and info been released to the public so far... GP thinks the third guy, badly injured, isn't going to make it...

One kid was only 23..Sh!t, I was still hiccuping after my first beer, when I was that young....

total now 127..also hear that both the US and Brits lost some in unrelated incidents..

Hope the generals get through to Obama about the need to hit the Taliban hard and often, to end this 'war of attrition'...

sad news...
