Off for a couple of days to visit the Good Padre...see you after the weekend... ..if you get any Canuck news, or one of the US networks thinks its important enough, we lost three soldiers today to IED's and attacks.. Good Padre's been co-ordinating NOK visits..not nice work, but...

anyway... added to the list of the fallen... that's 100 lost to date in the 'stan...bad karma, to say the least..

To heck with the news! I care! Toss up their names so those here can read of their lives. They don't need to know us, but we need to know them.

Lost another...dribs and drabs..

Good Padre has to cut short her leave and is heading back to base as I type to be on hand for the soldier's return home...plane and procession on Monday....family will be met today...

Sad way to start the New Year..but,no one said taking down the bad guys would be easy...

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.200812...HAN27//TPStory/Front

amid the sadness, some fun, though... the Padre assigned to assist the family was also on leave and had put her dress uniform in the cleaners..gets the call, cleaners on ' holiday' and won't open til Monday...[ her spares were back on base 7 hours away...no time to pick up and meet deadlines before the media descended... Crisis time!.. luckily wife had some spare shirts at our house and our daughter is the same rank as the chaplain, so could lend spare jacket...with a bit of swapping parts and ' secret meetings' we got her kitted out in time to make the calls! Rocketeer comes through with some fancy driving and ' clandestine meets' at local chicken palace to drop off the kit and save the day...

Happy to oblige, sad that it has to be for this reason..

will hoist one in memory tonight...

Just got an update from the wife.. Good Padre back on base and dealing with more KIA and IIT casualties..new IED/ambush incidents..no details released to press yet so OPSEC in play...I'll post what I can for those interested as soon as I''m allowed.

not a good run up to the New Year..

she's also dealing with a sad sit where soldier got comp leave to go home for death of father in car accident only to find out that wife was killed in another accident back near base... guy literally caught between..

life can sure throw some curves some days...

names have been released from latest 'incident'...

daughter is getting a bit skittish as her Fiancee is ' outside the wire' on Ops with a US patrol bringing his American counterpart ' up to speed' ..

He's due back end of Feb. and, naturally, no one wants him returning early for the, sadly,' usual ' reasons...

Rocketeer thank you for the post God Speed to your Daughter's Fiancee and that we all mourn when one of our Soldiers are KIA. saluteAlso it looks like the Gaza problem is getting bigger I just hope the Allied Troops are not trapped in the middle of a conflict between Iran & Israel which I am sure is just over the horizon.

Rocketeer
A whole bunch of cloudy days Rocketeer. Sorry about the bad news.

Sully1

Israel is on their own this time around. Thousands of American troops are being sent to Afghanistan with loud intentions to Pakistan and their military build up along the Indian border. I think just about everybody on this globe has had it with Pakistan and it's bullcrap. Now they are stuck in a vice.

Rocketeer, I am sadden to hear of another loss, Sully1 I don't think we will get involved in the dust up in the middle east. My wife thinks the end times are near, I hope not.
