While you guys are getting ready to celebrate having kicked the Brits out of America on the 4th of Joo-lie. I hope you'll take a moment or two to pop a cold one today and toast your cousins to the North as we celebrate our own little burfday.


July oneth is Canada's 142nd and we'll be celebrating [ tastefully, mind ] with some respectful fireworks, a slice or two of seal flipper pie and some polar bear steaks on the BBQ washed down with some [ once] Canadian brew [ now owned by American and Belgian International conglomerates ]..

Still can't bring myself to watch a Canadian movie [ not that you can find any in the 'cinemas' as those are dominated by American blockbuster sh*t like "Transformers" and other popcorn porn...]

as I fast approach the same age as my country I am content to reflect that I have my health, relative financial stability [ only lost $ 10 grand in the recent 'downturn ' ] and that the kids have managed not to turn into serial killers or ponzi scheme ripoff artists and the wife still considers me worth keeping around.

So, as I sip some " Spirits of 1776 " [ a nice little private label bourbon ] in honour of y'all dowen sawouth, I trust you will reciprocate on the 4th with a sip or two of some nicely aged Canadian whisky in a toast to us, your frozen neighbours to the north...

an' would it hurt to come up and be all tourist like for a bit..? our economy could use some US cash..we promise the blackflies won't bite [ too much ] and the snow will only be 3 feet deep in August...
