Typhoon, wouldn't want to bore everyone else by rehashing my comments/observations on China already discussed before your arrival on our shores..

suggest you take a moment to click on the " Open Discussion " tab and read some of the bits and pieces from Speaker, evan, and others when the topic of China first popped up..

we can pick up from there, if you're up to it.

will point out that on the China down side, the government is trying to bury the fact that there's an upsurge in early infant deaths and birth defects amongst coal miners/workers due to unsafe and polluted conditions as it continues to try and propel itself into the 21st century wrecking the environment along the way..

on the up side I see that General Motors, in the interest of pushing more jobs offshore and cashing in on the lucrative Chinese market for cheap cars and vast profits, is dropping $ 250 million into ' green technology ' to soften the blow of tearing up vast tracts of land for more massive car plants in the provinces.

.guess that's call a neutral carbon footprint these days...

I suspect this is a one way deal in which you think I should read your crap but you ignore mine? Such as coal becoming a very clever fuel and the eventual dimise of automotives in general? You actually think we will all be driving around America in itty bitty cars say..50 years from now? You don't travel much, I do. We'll be lucky if we are able to take one shower a day in the near future ( unless you read my thoughts on Ice Mining ). The Chinese are no threat with the exception of copyright theft, but what comes around goes around anyhow. Take a look at the structures of their society for crying out loud. Capitalism built them up and will tear them down. Bank on it.

Typhoon, did I say I was a car-o-holic? you silly nutbar... What I pointed out is that General Motors [which seems to have a 'vested interest ' in autos ] seems to think there's a future in a] cars and b ] China buying a shitload of them or it wouldn't be spending a penny, let alone $ 250 million US on 'upgrades/improvements/nicey environmental doodads there...

as for Capitalism being the downfall of China..read my earlier stuff and you'll find that I've been touting the Walmart/McDonalds/Disneyland invasion of mainland China, Iraq and elsewhere as the pointy end of US policy to establish its Imperial Hegemony round the world.

marines and bombs are just to soften 'em up, and bring down property values so its economical for the big box stores to move in and to give them a large pool of unemployed and destitute ready to work cheap ' employees '..

If the shoddy trinkets Walmart sells are made in Singapore and flogged in Moosonee, Sam doesn't care..all the profits still flow back to his pockets in Arkansas and what's good for Sam, and Warren Buffet and Bill Gates is good for America...

I've said it before, too [ if you'd look ] that 6 companies run the world and governments are irrelevant[ of any stripe ] anyway..

but that's just cynical me.. now, if you want to rant on, please do so, I'm off to watch my DVD of Transformers [ made in Taiwan ]on my Sony Plasma Screen [ from the aforesaid China ]and drink a bottle of Bud [ from the Czech Republic ]

Remember when everybody thought Japan was taking over the world markets in the 80's? They even started making movies about it here in America, and plenty of books came out about how great their business structure was. Shuck's, they would even all do jumping jacks in the morning! They were bound to take over the business world and eventually crush America! Until...
