Passed during the Clinton Administration, Don't Ask Don't Tell allows homosexuals and others with "alternative lifestyles" to serve in the United States military provided they keep that information to themselves and not engage in their lifestyles while on duty.

What do you all think of this controversial topic?

Personally, I'd rather be fighting alongside a homo who knew his place, and knew how to fire a weapon, than next to an ex-felon. It seems illogical that the military would do all they could (including witch hunts) to keep these types of soldiers out of the military (except during wartime), but boost the number of felony waivers granted. Does this make any sense?

Liberals want government to be your mommy, Conservatives want government to be your daddy, and libertarians want government to treat you like an adult.

blackwater_merc even though this post has been hashed out a couple of times Don't ask don't tell was put in place to protect Gays serving from harassement Gays have been able to serve for many years and it was fine with almost everyone except the gays.If you ever served on a Ship except maybe a Carrier or a Battleship you know every person on the ship and it sure don't take very long to figure out his lifestyle.

I have served with gays in the army, my feelings on this subject is this, as long as they did their jobs and did not indulge in it during the duty day or if they were on night duty I did not care what they were.

This topic has been ' debasted' on so many military websites its becoming a cliched old issue..

bottom line for me is; I'd rather have some guy who is lusting after my ass guarding my six than some numnil who is more interested in protecting his own.

This subject goes back to the clinton years and has been hashed and rehashed to death, it is a dead subject but some people will NOT let it die and be buried.
