Since I am a military brat, one of the best places we lived was Plant Ord I loved it so much that every once in a while I can still smell it, in Georgia!I know that they shut it down but what did they do with all the houses does it look like a ghost town or did the sell them to the public I can still remember my address 110 Malmondy st.I was there from 86' to 91' did any one live there around that time?

Not sure, but last I heard (three years ago), the base housing had been preserved and was still in use by facilities in the area (several people I know at DLI in Monterrey lived there). The Commissary was also still there and in use.

I was there the same time as you, though I didn't live at Ft Ord (I was at DLI and Camp Pendleton and came to Ft Ord frequently).
