Hello all. I have been going through the steps of joining the Army. I have taken my ASVAB (got an 85), took my physical, and got off probation. The thing is that its looking like another 2 months before I can even sign up. Apparently there is a month wait after you get off probation and then it takes at least 2 weeks for the waiver.

I chose the Army because I thought I would have a better chance of getting a spot that I wanted (infantry, hopefully mechanized). But now I am looking at the Marines too.

So here are my questions:
1. Are the Marines more stict about having a criminal record? I have a dui and a drug posession charge on my record.

2. Do the Marines have any kind of a wait after getting off probation to join? I had a Navy recruiter practically begging me to join and he told me they don't have such a waiting period, and the Marines do share a lot of policies with the Navy.
