LOL, I don't look at Military PR announcements as necessarily having much to do with reality. When I was humping the bush in '69, we received some "sensor" equipment that, apparently, was intended to help us. We suspected we were guinea pigs...LOL

Long time ago, along with CRS, seems we would plant these "sensors" out beyond our trips & claymores, in order...run the wires back inside our perimeter and attached them to the "box". I think there were about 6 sensors per box. Anyhow, the box had lights corresponding to the sensors on it and I don't remember if there was a audible alarm in the thing (which we wouldn't have used), but the whole damned thing was a big DUD! I think we blew away some hogs after an "alert" from the POS.

Point is, especially in '69, it sounded like a really grand idea, until one faces the fact that it takes away from something far more fruitful...a scared-to-death soldier using & straining ALL of his faculties to stay alive...

Dane, I've taken a bunch of crap from some chest-thumping career Military folks and their lackeys, but MY concern, for obvious reasons, are those Grunts who get to do the dirty work!

I read Hackworth's latest on milcom last night and he is EXACTLY on track! When I was in Nam, it burned the hell out of me and I am CERTAIN it burns the hell out of those Combat Arms Bros in Iraq & Afghanistan now!

I spent a year in the bush and my second year as a REMF on Bien Hoa Army Base. Made the SAME $$$ in BOTH places and there is NO reason for that to happen.
