My father-n-law is a Korea Navy Vet and I ahve been trying to find a model of the ship he was on.

Checked the hobby stores and even E-bay, can't find anything and I know some of you are hobbist and model builders

USS Wm F. Mitchell

After a check of web sites on ships, I could not find a USS William Mitchell. There is a Destroyer Escort named the USS Mitchell. It was scrapped after WWII. You may have the name wrong. Here is a site for Navy vessels:

Will have to check with him again on this.

I couldn't find anything either when I was doing my search. Poor ole feller is getting bad with his age and his memory goes on a few things

Okay this is what I came up with so far, just talked to the inlaw.

The Mitchell he was on was not a destoryer it was a transporter that he was on from 48-52.

The hull number was oh crap __8114 or something like that. He was some paper work on it and some pictures that I am going to look at this weekend

It was supposed to be named after Gen William F. Mitchell

Okay found it.

The Destroyer was the DE-43

The USS William Lendrum Mitchell was the AP-114 and it was a transportor that finally was moth balled in 1966.

Not going to tell you what the father in law said when I told him is wasn't the Wm F. Mitchell Big Grin
