Well,if Taiwan has been such an unhappy part of China, and has repeatedly tried to become independent, why does China waste so much time and expense trying to bring Taiwan back into the Chinese heartland?
Your hatred of Taiwan is evident. So you want to teach Taiwan a lesson? You want to risk a nuclear war with Taiwans allies to bring Taiwan back to the Chinese bosom? Taiwan wishes to govern itself as a free and independent nation.America will defend Taiwan as an ally and as a nation sruggling to become free from Chinas embrace. IMPROVISE;ADAPT;OVERCOME! |

It is a common sense that Taiwan is a province of China,Now,It is governed by mingjin party,Only a small part of the bureacratic people want it seperate from mainland, they want to be a nation, but it is impossible, chinese government will take over taiwan after 2008,even large number of PLA man will be sacrificed.
IF Alaska wants to be independent, will you agree? will you? of cause not! So,Mainland will never bear the independence of taiwan!! |

China is out-of-touch with the general public in Taiwan.
basically, the ruling party in the Taiwanese government wants independence from China. Now, the current ruling party was elected, democratically, by the majority of the Taiwanese population. I believe that this is an indication that the majority of the Taiwanese public supports the ruling party's policy of independence from China. |

China has one big headache in trying to absorb Hong Kong into the fold of the Great Nation because of its aspirations to full democracy..[ not to mention the problems of Macao and the other little free societies it wants to return to the motherland ] It can't crush the democratic will and impetus of the Hong Kong people as that would make it look bad in the face of the world, especially as China is trying to look its best for the upcoming Olympics, economic growth, international trade, etc. etc..
So how the hell does it expect to absorb the much bigger Taiwan which is just as indepenedent minded and fully democratic into its ' bosom '? And why would it want to?.. Taiwan would not ' revert' to a less free system of government, would not give up the many' freedoms' it enjoys, and would certainly rebel against any restrictions, sanctions or other pressures to ' conform' to mainland China rules by stopping its unrestricted use of the internet, and other censorious forms of control. All of which would give China a big bellyache and cause its own emerging and rapidly growing middle class to demand the same ' reforms/freedoms' faster than they already are shouting for [ and don't think the Chinese government is able to control that without massive repression ].. nope China will never get back Taiwan because saner heads in the Chinese government know once they do that they will lose control and the communist regime will collapse or be one in name only... Taiwan is a tumour on the body of China that can only be solved by having it excised - China will shake and rattle its military might and threaten bad things but will do nothing for to take back Taiwan will mean the end of China Freedom wins over oppression always - make take a bit longer than hoped for, but once people are' free' they never go back to oppression for long... Taiwan can not truly independent,As long as its independence, the PLA will fight past,Taiwan's armed forces are vulnerable,Taiwan's armed forces up to five days pillared,They place their hopes in the U.S.,However, the U.S. military and the PLA is not a direct conflict,Because PLA can kill the aircraft carrier and Okinawa base,Americans are not paid to the tremendous sacrifice Taiwan,Also, do not forget china have nuclear weapons and ICBMs

The USA has a lot more Nuclear Weapons and ICBMs than the PLA does. Not to mention, it has the capability to shoot-down the ICBMs and Nuclear weapons from more than 4000 Kilometres off. And China does not ahev the ainti-air capabilities to take on the far-famed USAF. Furthermore, you forgot that the USA is the only country in the world with stealth capabilities. And they also have the strongest navy in the entire world. China's navy is no-where near strong enough to counter the US navy. What's more, the USA's training programmes for their soldiers are also more advanced than those used by the PLA. |

SULLY1-yeah,I have never been to Taiwan, and I know some people in Taiwan support the goverment to independent. This is true, but do you know why? It's all because of the reports of the media of Taiwan, they are controled by the goverment and often say something bad about the mainland. The people there are fooled by them.If they have been to mainland,I'm sure they will not support the independence.Life has changed a lot in mainland.
