It looks like some of these people were on the receiving end of some high-caliber weapons!

I was wonderng if any of you could answer this question. I am not big on the biological decomposition of dead people so I am asking:

What the hell happens to a dead body to make it turn black like a lot of these folks have? I have seen this before in other pics as well, and I am kind of curious as to why this happens. What are the stages that a decomposing body goes through?

Thanks.

only thing I could think of is the blood is not running through the body.therefor, the skin turns color,it starts to rot.

I have generally seen rigor start around the ears first before beginning it's decent throughout the rest of the body.

Firstly, when the heart stops beating, gravity will cause blood flow to settle down in different parts of the body nearest to the ground. This causes skin to appear pale and waxy. Within 8 to 12 hours, the skin will turn purple-red and eyes will be sunken and extremities turn blue.

"At first the body muscles relax but soon stiffen up again from the face to the entire body. (The stiffening) can stay 2-3 days depending on the surrounding temperature, before softening again resulting in muscle fibers decomposing."

"The body putrefies starting from the lower abdomen with a visible greenish discolouration in the skin and soon, the body and face swell up entirely."

"The bacteria in intestines produces gases that bloat the body as well as the tongue and eyes. It also pushes the intestines out through the rectum."

There's only one problem, apparently we haven't killed enough of them.

I was lucky enough Roll Eyes to get a call from my step mother asking me to drive up to LA to see if this dead person in the morgue might be her natural son, one of my best friends. I got to the morgue and looked for scar, moles, and whatever else I knew. It was disgusting. The smell, the sights, all of it. He had been dead for almost 4 entire months. What made it particularly difficult is that the body was all yellow and very bloated. Talk about sights and smells that stick with you !! I can still smell the odor of the morgue and envision the body. It's not like a freshly killed bambi or anything Eeker I determined that it was him and arranged for him to be shipped home to Texas.

BTW, it was the same place pictured on Quincy. That was kind of cool in that aspect.
