Hi! I'm back and yes we had a great time visiting with the youngest daughter.
While there, I got into a political discussion with my son in law and it set me to thinking about something which y'all might like to think about too. This administration has embarked on a war of generational length, one which has even been described as a "state of perpetual war." Disregarding the fact that I, personally, think that's unsustainable, I'm curious as to just how they expect to remain in power that long? Sooner or later, SOMEONE from outside the neo-con stable has to win an election, don't they? As opposition to the war rises (as I think it will) how does Bush and Company intend not only to fight it, but defeat it for 20 or 30 or 40 years without losing power? How CAN they reasonably expect to do that without completely chucking free elections? |

I think humanity is in a perpetual state of war no matter if 'Neocons', Neocoms, Fascists, Maoists, Communists, Heathenist, Terrorist Anarchists are in power.
The circumstances for the current world situation did not happen overnight, but are the latest in a chain of events stretching back to the beginnings of recorded history and before.. Action, reaction and action again.....has always been....will always be. |

The Democrats are going to have to move closer to the center, where the voting majority is, if they expect to regain power. That's all there is to it.

But Hal has a point. Peace is an illusion. The world has never been totally at peace. Never has, never will. We're social creatures, but we can't get along. The great contradiction. But, it's inevitable, right? If you're God, and you give your subjects intelligence and ambition, you know there's going to be trouble. Can't be helped.

There were democrats and republicans in power at different times during our occupation of West Germany and Japan. I don't think if we get a Democrat in power it would necessarily have to mean we leave Iraq.

Maybe not. But I don't want them in charge of my security. Hey, I've got friends who are liberal. They can be nice people. They make good doctors. Good social workers. Good entertainers. But too many of them have a childlike view of the world. In times like these, I want a Clint Eastwood-type running the show, not Mister Rogers.

Damn, everytime someone mentions that bitches name, I end up waking in the middle of the night and remembering whose real full name (parents changed their name when they came to this country) is the same as my mother's full maiden name! Damn! Thank God my mother never had to hear about that piece of pig-shit!

All I know is I woke up one morning, turned on the TV, and there was a tank flying the American flag in somebodies front yard. Unsat. Koresh may have been a dangerous nut. But there's a hundred ways the feds could have handled that, and whatever their intentions, they came off looking like jackboots. That said, I'm sorry those agents were shot on that first day. It wasn't their fault they had bad leadership.

Yep, between Waco and Ruby Ridge - we saw what a govt gone haywire could be like. I guess somebody had stolen the only copy of the constitution available or something ... Snipes! Heaven won't have us and Hell's afraid we'll take over! |

Kit
The GWOT transcends democrats and republicans. Doesn't matter who is in power. WE are in for the duration, however long that may be. You and I won't see the end of it. |
