the problem is recruiters fail to tell the whole truth about military life style. Sure everyone knows a war is going on and people get killed in war, but few know of the significant day to day degredations of quality of life in the military. Recruters embelish the bennies and gloss over the dramatic reduction in quality of life. That is what the protest is about, most recruiters sucker in young people not knowing the WHOLE story, some get lucky and like the experence and can quote that it was not that bad but if you get burned you have little recourse because "you signed the dotted line". I think the true indicator of who really wants to be there would be to "sign the dotted line" after basic training, if you dident think basic was that bad and want to move on to AIT then sign up, that would totally eliminate any credible arguments that anti military recruitment protestors have.

Quite possibly the dumbest people I will hear of this year. I did live in Berkley and Santa Cruz, so I have heard some of the dumbest things come out of their mouths. Here's another brain trust for the "poor man's draft".
http://draftfreedom.org/avoidthemilitary.html It amazes me that they claim only the dumbest and the poorest join the military, yet offer advice to these poor dumb slobs on a WEBSITE you have to READ. Yeah. |
