I retired in 91, I have diabetes type 2, that said it took a year from the time I submitted all the paperwork required, I received 10% equals to $230.00 amonth. Now the kicker they take it from my retirement pay called it concurrent so I pay myself.

Did you finish the process before you retired? The Army, Navy and Marines have all developed a "quick" process in which you can receive all your exams and file it with the VA before separation. I went through that process in 2005, took less than 3 months. Guys who did not go through that process seem to wait 6 months to a year.

Did not have that when I retired in 91.

Nope. The Army is still behind the 8 ball. No concurrent Retirement/VA physical yet. So far I have 3 exams scheduled. If it hurt and was in my medical records, I made a claim.

Yeah, here's an article, I think some commands of the Army are now with this (I remember hearing that somewhere), I guess others are not. Navy and Marines are using this program. As of 2005, it was not available at all to the USAF.
http://www.defenselink.mil/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=45412 That all said......I think you're looking at an average of close to a year wait then. Six months was "quick", 9-12 months was average for the folks I remember retiring at the same time I was going through this. |

I am a Nam Era Vet. I have my C&P next week on a claim filed 2-20-2004. And I expect at least another year for my rating decision. I also have a claim opened 1-14-2003 and haven't had my C&P on it yet. So I hope you have lots of time on your hands to wait things out. Good Luck and Welcome Home!
