I posted this on that other site, but thought I'd bring it here too for y'alls comments.

Personally, I'm mad about it!

Katie Couric Special: A New Low
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did any of you happen to see the "special" tonight about teenaged sex? I watched about 5 minutes of it and quit in disgust.

Maybe I'm just an old man, but a program purportedly about teen sexual attitudes which includes "discussions" about oral sex among 14 and 15 year olds, interspersed with footage of teenaged girls dancing in bikini's, is a disgusting appeal to most depraved of prurient interests. A show like this must be godsend for the child molestors in the audience.

Anyhow, if you agree that the always dependably stupid Dateline has reached a new low, you can voice your objections at the link below. Just click on "e-mail us" and fire away.

Kiteria...Ya got the feeling that her show was more of a "promotional" than informative, like I did, then?

Then again it could be a way to get info on what the lil' critters are actually doing to parents who may be out of the loop on activities they wouldn't approve of.

Anybody here know what a "rainbow party" is? If so, how did you find out?

Thud...I have FIVE Daughters, Bro. They are grown, now. You seriously think I didn't know the pressures they faced once they hit puberty? Care to chat with some of their old boy-friends? Ya really think ANY of the problems today are any different than those of a thousand or more years ago?

I have four daughters from age 34 to age 10. It is tough trying to teach them the right from wrong issues, when we have all of the weird ideas taught in the schools. The TV programs of today are less than desirable as well.
Now we find out Sponge Bob Squarepants has a new persona (he is out of the closet). To make matters worse my 10 year old loves Nickleodeon. What's next?

RE: NOT SPONGE BOB!

Well, heck. I did think his relationship with Patrick was a little cozy, didn't you? Sort like with Bert and Ernie, somethings not right. Roll Eyes

I've got one daughter I raised as a single parent so I feel ya on that one. You are one of those heads up parents who is always sniffing the wind but I figure most aren't like that.

Was a service tech once for a large company and I had to go into people's houses to fix stuff. The way some of these kids talked to the parents and the way the parents took that BS made me want to slap everybody in the house.

kiteria you got that right! It seems a little funny now that our kid's are under politically correct observations. It is strange how people will twist an entertainment thing, designed for little kids into a political statement for a few $$$.

The Katie Couric's of the world thrive on sensationalism.

Just more overt as time goes on. Ratings, ratings, ratings.

And she is probably unaware of your Veterinary credentials. Suggest you google her. Evidently she is well thought of in the journalistic community - here is but a part of a bio:

quote:
From 1987 to 1989, Couric was a general-assignment reporter at WRC-TV, the NBC Television Station in Washington, D.C. While there, she won an Emmy and an Associated Press Award for her work. From 1984 to 1986, she was a general-assignment reporter at WTVJ in Miami. She began her career as a desk assistant for the ABC News bureau in her native Washington, D.C., in 1979. In 1980, she joined CNN as an assignment editor. She moved to Atlanta as an associate producer and later became the producer of a two-hour news and information program. She eventually became a political correspondent.

In May 2001, Couric was honored with a prestigious George Foster Peabody award for her series “Confronting Colon Cancer,” which aired on “Today” in March 2000. As a part of the series, she underwent a colonoscopy on camera, in an effort to demystify the exam for the viewers. She has also won six Emmys, a National Headliner Award, the Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi award, an Associated Press Award, a Matrix Award, a Gracie Allen Award, and named the 2002 “Wow Woman of the Year” by Glamour magazine.

Here's the Link
