Thats the GenX and GenY generations and the military better get used to it or we will cease to be a nation. There is nothing wrong with the way GenX and GenYers do things it just requires a change in training and treatment despite the spin you are attempting to put on this generation. And the military is picking up on that and is changing basic and other training, its the baby boomers and vets that will be left to wallow in there distain of this generation at there VFW posts while the rest of the world moves on, I was unfortunate enough to catch the tail end of there attempt to hold on to old dated abusive traditions.

Anyway, speaking of PTSD. I have found out the primary trigger of setting off the PTSD Rage and Hate machine. Its stupidity and loud noises! What a solution! Most idiots are loud, and therefore trigger an urge to bludgeon them to death with a preferably blunt object. It seems that idiocy is a common inflammatory of said disorder; and if allowed to run rampant in modern society, more people will be beaten into gooey muck puddles.

You know, with your vast knowledge of the military milieu/mindset, I'm surprised you haven't opened a anti-military recruiting centre [ like weight watchers/jenny craig ] where you can ' purge' young people of their desire to sign up by giving them the ' real story ' of how the military hazes, harrasses, belittles, beats down..etc. etc.. a person and turns them into a mindless cog..

you'd be doing them a service as they wouldn't have to spend their off hours ' bulking up' at the twinkie/cake counter at the 7-11 in order to ' flunk out' of basic...

rppearso, is that what you think the VFW or American Legions do? Before you start knock some organisations that you know nothing about, check up on what the really do. Most of the organizations are dedicated in to helping those in the service today, when they are overseas and coming home. Some post make sure that the families of the active service and activated reservist are ok. They are a volunteer organization that but a lot of time and effert in getting things done that our service personnel are seen too.
We make like to complain, but I think we have earned it.

I am a grown man, a Staff Sergeant at 26 years old in the United States Army. I have fought in hellholes you are to scared to fathom. I have trained my troopers to be more competent and tactically proficient than myself. I have forgone staff positions to keep myself in the fight. I have bled for my fellow man. I have bled for my country. I have buried my friends and stepped over them as they fell. I am an antique. I hope I can be a shadow of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines that served before me. I dont disagree cavscout, I just have a problem when Soldiers denigrate thoes that are not cut out for military service or who have realized that the military is not for them and feel they could be more useful elsewhere in society. But instead you call me a degenerate POS because I left the military before my contract was up. You cant expect to get respect if you dont give respect and treat people like prisoners. You stand on your soap box and say things like you have said above and on the other hand you talk of shooting your own men in the back if they dont fall into line instead of just discharging them, so dont be surprised if I (and most who have been where I have been on the reciveing end of the shitty stick in the military) dont buy the hype.

The S-1 orderly has finally called me to inquire as to why I have missed a few drills so now I have a phone number contact, I called and no one returned my call so I will call again and ask them to leave an email address so I can set up either my ELS or defective enlistment, its comming together.

You also never addressed the issue of liberty in the military, the whole reason this county was founded and we even have a statue that represnets it. Look up the definition and tell me how basic, OCS, the first summer at west point etc are in line with the definition of liberty. People who dont fall into line are taught a lesson by treating them as indentured servants and dealing with them harshly and with a heavy hand instead of letting them leave.

In my opinion the statue is just a nice work of art that no longer represents anything to thoes in uniform that dont want to be there.

The military is not a democracy, if it were, POS's like you would be causing alot of headaches. It would take 3x longer to get shit done and I'm not talking about your f'ing ELS. I'm talking about getting the fighting forces to the battlefield. If it were a democracy, POS's like you would be crying about not wanting to go. POS's like you would be writing thier Mom's and telling them to come pick them up because they don't want to be here anymore. If the military were a democracy, POS's like you would be able to weasel thier way out of doing thier job, fighting for and defending this country, with no consequences.
