To all serving, and former vets, to all family members and loved ones of those that have served, and indeed some are still serving.

This forum is intended to help and assist all those that would need help and advice in times that can be dark and intimidating.

Here for you.

Mike Daley

Well I am very happy to get in the PTSD forum again! The last several times I tried (way last year) I was blocked for not having a password.
I will say Mike Daily is an outstanding individual and he will serve those in need quite well.

We have a bundle of material that could be used here. I think a link to my website may help some.

Please click below to go and take a look when you have the time, there a major revision in my book “The Persian Gulf War updated 11/28/05, a new Depleted Uranium article as well as PTSD, Thailand and Agent Orange Heart 2 updated 7/7/04. Please read the In Search of the Truth, Thailand, AO Heart and AO Heart 2 as well as Long Binh.
For those interested, the VA is seeking changes in PTSD criteria. The decision is being considered to cease using the American Psychiatric Association DSM IV and have the National Academy of Science to create new criteria in order to evaluate PTSD in veterans. This is very bad news!

Thank you for this, Mike.

Not a survivor myself, but my late sister suffered with PTSD and I commend anyone who is reaching out to help people find the right resources.

Thanks again.

I'll buy that!

The VA is now looking at changing the criteria for rating PTSD claims. The politicians have indicated to many veterans are compensated for PTSD so some research has been ordered by the Secretary of VA Mr. Nicholson. He proposed the National Academy of Sciences research and develop the new criteria, which would take it out of teh hands of the psychiatrists and psychologists. To me that would be like having the school teacher to rewire the nuclear reactor in the atomic power plant.

Here is a response from the American Psychiatric Association:
Above all, a profound respect for the dignity of patients with mental and substance use disorders and their families must be duly reflected in serving the needs of veterans in the VA system. The American Psychiatric Association thanks the Subcommittee for the opportunity to submit a statement.

AMERICAN PSYCHIATRIC ASSOCIATION
BLASTS VA MENTAL HEALTH
SERVICES (02-22-06)

"For too long, mental health care has not
been a priority for VA."

"The shortage of physicians and other mental
health professionals has compromised the delivery of
healthcare and has endangered patient safety."

APA also urges caution with VA's new PTSD review.

Hi Dear Ones,

I'm here and ready to go, lololol. Had to get an account up and running.

REGARDING DAVE BARKER'S WEBSITE:

I highly recommend reading both the COMBAT and NON-COMBAT VET books. If you or a loved one might have PTSD, these will definitely be very familiar as to how you or they feel daily.

Take Care,

MOM

Let me be the first to comment on Dave B's post about changes in the review process proposed by the VA for PTSD.

IT MAKES ME SICK in my heart to think that I may have to deal with this issue again. It's tough enough dealing with PTSD every day, taking my meds, watching the world in slow motion and knowing that something ain't right.

Noow I can add the worry about losing my benefits and where am I going to live.

Oh I know I've said this all before. It's nothing new. And my life is in God's hands, not the VA, so I, like a single sparrow, will survive, but with great anxiety and dread of those who should be standing up for me.

MOM is gimping around here like an old gal. It's that crunch time of year in NC for massive outside cleanup and mega gardening. I'm livin' by the weather report and gettin' a redneck tan.

Dang, I'm sore. Actually used some IcyHot stuff and that even makes ya smell old.

Oh well, I'm sleeping good anyway.

Poor Bob, I've got him rototilling and lugging heavy stuff and he's as stoved up as I am.

What a pair we are, as we moan and groan our way through the house.

Anyway, back to it.

Love ya guys,

MOM Razzer Roll Eyes Smiler
