This message is for any veteran who served 20 yrs fought in the war has post tramatic stress sydyrom and is in or has been or know somebody who is in Prison because of his alcohol abuse.
My dad has been in incarcerated since Oct 17 2000 the day he had his fatal accident he collapsed at the wheel (heart problem) ran over a curb and killed two childrren and because he was a daily morning drrinker with prior duis (10 yrs ago) they gave him 20 yrs has to do 17. While he was in jail he hd a pace maker put in and he has had 5 heart attacks and disabled and was getting Va payments.
Reality something I have to accept My dad is not getting out he will die in prison 5yrs down 12 to go now 68 extremly bad health. His last letter i cyred as i do forr most of them but this one he told me that when he does die he wanted to be buried in his uniform with military honors playing taps that was his favorit movie (of course he would go crazy ofter any army movie). How do i honor his wish since he is in prison where does his body go i have power of attorney on all his matters and also if there is a way to get his time reduced because they have him in max security always locked down he needs to be in a medical facilty , Any info you can give me i would appreciate because my dad is a hero and he has been through hell in the army (purple hearts) i read why he got them he fought for freedom for this country only to have his taken away. He will alwaays be a hero and he will die with honor diginity and respect

The first thing I would do if I were you. Get a good attorney. Then I would write a letter to your senator and another to your governor. As far as burial with military honors, contact the VFW in your area, they do alot of funerals for veterans.
