Hello everyone.

Like most of you, I'm a not so new new guy.....I'm familiar with most of you already.

I'd like to say that I'm impressed with how the forum ware is working! Bad site management is one of the main reasons why I no longer post on Point/Counterpoint. You will never see HAL posting there again. I heard this was a great place for P/CP expats to come. Even though I have not been banned over there, I have effectively banned myself. I see no further purpose in wasting time battling unresolvable issues, having the same old debates and dealing with trolls to the Nth degree.

This is an InfoPop-supported board, which leads me to believe that the site issues at the old place is not InfoPop, but rather Military.com not upgrading both the hardware side of things nor are they very willing to update to Eve. The ware used over there was released in 2001 or 2002. A site MUST stay up to date or sink in its own muck...

I also stopped posting in protest of how folks like Linux and RDD were treated, among others. There is an 'uneven' application of Moderation there. Long term members get bounced...and the trolls are permitted to infest the place because a confirmation link ( unlike here ) is not required to join. So now mediocrity has taken over and the place has slid so far down into the sewer as to be unusable.

I'm quite glad to have this place now to come discuss and relax.

Come on, man. It ain't that bad and for the last 2 or 3 days the forum hasn't been glitchy. It's ok to post on more than one military forum. Don't totally abandon P/CP.

I hear ya. It's a choice I made after a lot of thought. The forum WAS glitchy today and will be again. Rather than complain to no avail over there....and who wants to hear that; it's useless and pointless, I decided to pack up and leave. I believe my reasoning to be sound and this is not so much a criticism of so many of the folks there as it is on how the site is operated. Nuts and bolts, as it were.

Well, you don't know till you try. I think it's gentler because it's new.....and membership is about 90 people. I don't see why you would have a problem. It seems the rules are easy to understand and two of the three Mods here I 'knew' from elsewhere. I think you'll get a fair shake. Just a feeling.

HAL, for some reason, you make me want to write some code in hexadecimal !!

I prefer my code in Binary Coded Decimal with just a hint of Octal in the mix.

HAL it is MAP. The newbee from the other site! I was woundering where you have been. Just figured that I did not sign on when you were there, Since I only check in once a day or less. And I have't spent to much time there myself with the chores and kids and all! See ya around
