Start with some research visit each recruiter and the see what they have to offer you then make your decision.

Shelly... the very most important thing is what kind of job you want to do then do what the Coachman said go and talk to every different Recruiter and see what they can offer.Don't sign anything until you get their options in writing.

At 19yrs old, there are a couple of questions that you have to ask yourself seriously. Like "what do I want to BE when I grow up". That answer should help you make a decision about the best branch that fits your needs. If you like aircraft, space, then Air Force. If you are looking more at outdoor activities, then choose Army, Marine Corps. If you like the ocean, then Navy. Understand the differences that these branches present. <p> Here's what I've heard, and know to be true: The Army Will deploy you for a period of 12 months. The Air Force doesn't deploy like the Army (while they deploy it's usually to resupply and fly out again..of course they also provide guys for Air Port Security in deployment zones, but that's a small part). The Marines Deploy a lot..but you eventually come home. THe Navy is great, but when you deploy there's not a lot of time to "call home" because you are litterally at sea. All branches offer a lot of benefits. Maybe lookup where you'd like to live, and then ask your recruiter what they do at that post. If you have good grades in school, then go for the Air Force. If you don't then any of the other branches will work. Marine Corp basic training is the most difficult (so you better be in shape prior because it is grueling). But if you do the marine basic and want to change branches you DO NOT have to go threw another basic training... not the same for anyone going wanting to do that in reverse!

MilitaryRewards....pretty good post but I wonder why you made the comment if you have good grades Go Air Force.Shelly-melly I would say at the present time with heavy Enlistment your choices are not as good as they were.I read in the News where due to the economy the RE-Up and Enlistement's were very high now.
