Gunny, unorganized is simply a term used by the articles of the US and the constitution of the United States to distinguish the militia from the National Guard. The militia is composed by the people and regulated from with in leaving it un controlled by state or federal governments leaving so would classify a militia as "unorganized" or "unregulated." However the militia as national standards. Militia National Standards

We were looking into the situation when it was first reported by the news that New Orleans police officers and National Guard troops were confiscating firearms from law abiding citizens on dry land. The NRA is currently looking into the situation and if need be our men will line the borders to protect our countryman.

This is a two-edged sword. On the one hand, I don't want to see any firearms confiscated from Americans. However, I was watching the news (looters) and I wanted to go down to New Orleans and confiscate a few myself.

big diff between armed citizens, and armed criminals.
Would you allow weapons inside a refuge facility? What would be your litmus test in making this distinction? Lining the borders will serve what purpose? Anytime the NRA looks into anything the only resulting action will be a lawsuit. Taking guns from criminals within the flooded areas is justified to a certain extent, confiscating guns from law abiding citizens on dry land that pose no threat to the police is unconstitutional. The police chef of New Orleans has the right to regulate guns in time of a natural disaster, not confiscate them.

Just to a certain extent? OK, so who makes that decision? The law, the criminal or someone who ain't even there? Do you believe that everyone has the right to bear arms just by virtue of citizenship? Myself, my interpretation of the right to bear arms shall not be infringed upon, applies to law abiding citizens only. As far as I'm concerned criminals don't meet that qualification. The Sheriff, or Police in New Orleans did the right thing in confiscation of whatever weapons were found during this situation. The ramifications of this confiscation (regulation of guns) being, that if you entered into a certain area under police control that they would protect you. I used to live in New Orleans, and my licensed, registered pistol, was taken from me during a traffic stop, but it was returned once I spoke with the judge. So in my mind they did the right things, during this emergency.Raising a stink about a percieved incident or something based entirely on what some reporter wrote is pretty much unwarrented in my book. New Orleans has enough troubles on thier plate without external groups starting a pissing contest over events that 'might' or 'might not' have occurred.
